11 best books…

from 2011…. in my limited and biased take on it all!

Maybe the only things better than reading a great book and talking about a great book, is forwarding the goodness on to others! Reading may begin as a solitary experience, but it doesn’t have to stay that way for long. This is not an intentionally controversial list, though purposefully accessible, best-enjoyed in paper-not-kindle, and in no particular order!!

  1. Consumer Detox by Mark Powley
  2. Alone Together: why we expect more of technology and less from each other – by Sherry Turkle
  3. Lit! by Reinke Tony
  4. Shaping the Heart: Reflections on spiritual formation and fruitfulness by Pamela Evans
  5. The Pastor by Eugene Peterson
  6. Joseph: Insights for the journey by Sara Savage
  7. Falling Upwards – A Spirituality for two halves of life by Richard Rohr
  8. Redemption by Mike Wilkerson
  9. Mustard Seed Shavings by Steve Tilley
  10. How I Changed My Mind about Women in Leadership by various
  11. Divorce by Bob Mayo

ok BIG admission, John Ortbeg’s book, ‘The ME I want to be’ is exceptional and truly worthy of a read.

Back to blogging then? Good to see!

And re your list of books, agreed re paper v. Kindle – so much easier to savour! But I didn’t love ‘The Me I Want to Be’ like I thought I would…prefer other of his titles to that one. I guess I’m not that sold on the whole Monvee thing either.

Anyway, at least I can steal some of your reading ideas for this year – thanks!
