"We need to be honest about our lame, half baked message and our even lamer attempts to dress it up and make it look sexier than it is. My sense is that we’d do better to admit we haven’t fully discovered the depths of this story and simply invite people to start digging for it with us again?" Hugh Halter 1 Making disciples in the everyday stuff of life. Worth thinking.  2 Strong leadership inspirations. Fresh angles on this. 3 What Donald Miller does to renew creativity. "The church, which is a kingdom fellowship under King Jesus, counters each of these stories with the story of new creation that becomes possible through the power of the Spirit and the life of Jesus. Kingdom creates a family called a church." Scot McKnight 1 Eight killers of momentum and motivation. Ron's insight.  2 Creativity's worst enemy: "Creators carry with them the scars from cynic’s attacks, wounds that are healed because of grace." 3 Corderio's Dead Leader Walking video footage.  4 Thom Rainer's insights as to what may happen in the church this year. 5 Tim Chester's blog on the puritan [...]

Creativity and the creative process get a lot of air-time these days in articles, books and blog posts. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of tips out there on how to be create, how to write. Read a lot. Read widely. Write every day. Find new locations for inspiration. Write with noise. Write in quiet. And so on. These are great ideas, really helpful. I abide by them in varied levels of commitment because they help me. But you know what they’re not.....? A formula. Creativity doesn’t come with a one-size-fits-all formula. If it did everyone would be creative and by [...]

“If we're going to impact our world in the name of Jesus, it will be because people like you and me took action in the power of the Spirit. Ever since the mission and ministry of Jesus, God has never stopped calling for a movement of "Little Jesus's" to follow him into the world and unleash the remarkable redemptive genius that lies in the very message we carry. Given the situation of the Church in the West, much will now depend on whether we are willing to break out of a stifling herd instinct and find God again in the context of the [...]

Psalm 34 v 1-4 "I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul will make its boast in the LORD; the humble will hear it and rejoice. O magnify the Lord with me, And let us exalt His name together. I sought the Lord, and He answered me, and delivered me from all my fears." 1 Jesus invented the church; let's allow him to lead it while we cultivate a flourishing well-watered garden first and a well-oiled machine second. Let the garden flourish.  2 A beautiful video piece that is inspiring around creativity & Blaine Hogan's brilliant free resource. 3 [...]
